Yonphula Domestic Airport finally ready for the operation
The Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) has successfully installed and commissioned the Communication & Navigation equipments at Domestic Airports by the last week of August 2011. Though not included/planned in the project, the contractor Aeronautical Radio of Thailand (AEROTHAI) has landed its Aircraft for the first time in the history of Bhutan at the Yonphula Domestic Airport on 4th September 2011. The same could not be tested for the Bumthang Domestic Airport since the runway was not ready for landing and taking off. However the Nav-aid and communication equipment were tested for the operation at the both Airports.
Flight time from Paro to Bumthang was about 30 minutes and will take 15 minutes to reach Yongphula fom Bhumthang.
